This article was written as part of INEKO project titled “The debt crisis in the EU – possible solutions and position of the Slovak Republic”. The project aims to strengthen the expertise in a discourse about possible solutions to the debt crisis in the EU and thereby help to optimize Slovak decisions in this area. The project is conducted with the financial support of Konrad Adenauer Stiftung foundation (KAS) and the Open Society Foundations. The article was written for the KAS journal – International Reports.
